Reframing late socialism through a contemporary poster series
Three visual narratives built from archival references, strong typography and a shared graphic system.

Problem
Historical and cultural subjects can easily become visually overloaded or rely too heavily on nostalgia.
The challenge was to create a poster series that references the atmosphere of late socialism without simply reproducing the visual language of the period.
Solution
The series combines contemporary typography with archival-inspired imagery, controlled color and a consistent grid.
Each poster has its own visual character, while the shared structure, type treatment and composition make the three pieces work as one system.
Three Narratives, One System
The series was designed as three separate visual narratives connected by one consistent system.
Each poster uses a different dominant color and image direction, while typography, spacing and composition create a common rhythm across the collection.

Designed as a Flexible Series
The visual language was developed beyond a single fixed format.
Portrait and horizontal variations reuse the same imagery, typography and hierarchy, showing how the posters can adapt while still feeling like parts of the same collection.

From Poster to Environment
The final application places the series in a physical setting, where the differences between the three posters become more visible while the shared system keeps them connected.
Together, the pieces work as a sequence rather than three unrelated designs.
